Artist Statement

MGrace, an artist born in Mendoza, began her fascination with the
human form and aesthetics in childhood. An intuitive personal hobby
rapidly evolved into a deep visual exploration. From an early age, she
was drawn to silhouettes, faces, and clothing while designing outfits
and figures that foreshadowed her calling.
After a time away from painting, fate reunited her with her passion in
2013. As she walked past an art gallery, the sight of several drawings
evoked memories of the figures and faces she used to sketch as a
child. Inspired by this rediscovery, she shared her sketches with her
husband, who became her pillar of support. He encouraged MGrace to
cultivate her talent and pursue a formal art education. This search
motivated her to enroll in the prestigious Art Students League of New
York, where she trained rigorously for five years.
During her time at the academy, MGrace mastered the fundamentals of
classical technique. However, her creative restlessness directed her
to transcend academicism and develop her own contemporary voice. Her
current artistic approach is rooted in a multifaceted, experimental
methodology. For her, art remains a living process that is discovered
and evolves as the paint takes shape on the canvas. Through her works,
she seeks to strip away the superficial to capture the true essence of
her subjects. Her work explores universal themes such as identity,
family, and the human form while crafting visual narratives in which
color and movement play a central role.
Currently, MGrace is immersed in producing a series of paintings
dedicated to the history of tango. Through this collection, she
explores the roots of this dance in her native Argentina, bringing to
light the historical events and key figures that shaped its identity.
The Argentine artist firmly establishes a vibrant dialogue between
historical rigor, emotional depth, and the freshness of contemporary
art through this project.
